11 June 2007 (Sawf News) - Salman Khan walked the red carpet at the IIFA awards gala at Yorkshire (on June 9) with an unidentified eye candy, while girlfriend Katrina Kaif came in alone.

The incident left Bollywood watchers confused and us wondering if a split was in the offing.

While Salman and Katrina have never publicly declared their love for each other, they have appeared together on several occasions, implicitly acknowledging a relationship.

Shortly before the Abhishek-Aishwarya wedding there were rumors, later rubbished by Katrina, that the two were about to wed.

“We were quite confused when Salman walked the red carpet with some other girl. He also posed for the shutterbugs and was with her all evening,” an onlooker told Mumbai Mirror.

Salman’s close friends say the girl with Salman was just a friend. However, their contention lacks conviction because Salman and Katrina sat separately and exchanged few words during the event. Besides, when Salman’s two girls came face to face they did not exchange pleasantries.

“It was quite strange to see Katrina and Salman not sitting together. Salman and this girl were cracking up all the time. It’s quite obvious that the duo were having a good time.”

“There’s nothing to fear. Like all strong couples they might have had a minor tiff,” says an industry watcher.

“Katrina was seen playing a gracious host at the impromptu party at Salman’s hotel room the other day.”

He has a point.
