Grew his beard for three weeks to prepare for the look

Jo bole so Nihaal: Salman Khan in his new avatar

Suddenly it’s fashionable to wear a turban. Akshay Kumar sports one in Singh is Kinng. And now Sameer Karnik’s multi-starrer Heroes will see Salman Khan essaying the role of a sardar for the first time.

Sallu is playing the role of a military official in this road-trip movie.

An industry insider reveals, “Co-producer of the film Heroes, Vikas Kapoor, (also secretary to Salman Khan) also the showed the film’s teaser promos to a select audience and the actor went almost unnoticed with his beard and turban. People couldn’t recognise him. The make-up and the look of a Sardar has been brilliantly perfected.”

It was supposed to be the surprise element of the film (no longer, thanks to us.) Once the promos hit the screens, Sallu’s look is sure to become the talk of the town.

Beard not fake

Sameer Karnik, the director of the film admits, “Yes, Salman is playing a Sardar who hails from Punjab in the film. Salman grew his own beard for three weeks and  that makes his look more authentic. He didn’t want to stick a fake beard on, which is really commendable.”

Who else?

The film also stars Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Sohail Khan, Vatsal Seth, Preity Zinta, Mithun Chakarborty, Amrita Arora and Riya Sen. The film is jointly produced by Vikas Kapoor and Sameer Karnik.

Heroes also marks the return of film financer Bharat Shah who is presenting this film. Heroes will have a worldwide release on May 1.

The Motorcycle Diaries

The film Heroes earlier titled Mera Bharat Mahan is said to be loosely based on the 2004 cult classic Diarios De Motocicleta (The Motorcycles Diaries) based on the journals of Ché Guevara, the leader of the Cuban Revolution. In his memoirs, Guevara recounts adventures he and best friend Alberto Granado had while crossing South America by motorcycle in the early 1950s.

Sohail Khan and Vatsal Seth are said to be the two friends who embark on the journey which starts from New Delhi and ends in Ladakh.
