The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) has issued a notice to Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan for using his residence for commercial purposes.
”Notice has been issued to Shah Rukh’s Red Chilli Entertianment Pvt Ltd on Thursday for unauthorised change in user and violation of rules,” MCGM Commissioner Jairaj Phatak told reporters here.
”Change in user” refers to change or alteration of the property from that reserved by the civic body. For changing the use of a premise, permission has to be sought from the MCGM, which Khan failed to do.
The notice is returnable within 30 days. If there is no reply to the notice, then legal action will be initiated against him, Ashok Shintre, Chief Engineer (Development and Planning) said.
Khan has also been asked to submit documents related to the alterations made by him in the premises, he added.
The recourse available to Khan is either to apply for regularisation of the premises or restore the property to its original outlay, MCGM officials said.
If Khan fails to reply to the notice, he may have to pay fine of Rs 50 per sq mtr, Phatak said when asked about the action that can be taken against the former.
SRK’s date-book is so packed that he hasn’t been able to allot dates for the sequel of his hit movie
Shah Rukh Khan’s date-book is so packed that he is scrambling for dates to shoot for Farhan Akhtar’s sequel to Don, the shooting of which was supposed to start in January next year. The film, as of now, has been delayed.
Shah Rukh, who is currently on vacation in London, has a packed schedule when he returns to India. He will start shooting for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi as soon as he lands in Mumbai and then he will be busy with Priyadarshan’s Billoo Barber.
After the above two films are over, Karan Johar has booked Shah Rukh’s dates for My Name is Khan and then he will be busy with his own production Happy New Year which is to be directed by Farah Khan.
He will also be busy promoting his other venture that is an animation film titled Ravan. Insiders close to the project reveal that Shah Rukh really wants to do the film but to date, he has not found dates for Farhan. Farhan, on the other hand, really wants to have him in the sequel and so he is directing Voice from the Sky first and will then move over to the sequel.
Sources add that if the there is a major schedule crunch, then Shah Rukh will opt out of Don 2.
When contacted, Farhan was defensive while talking about the fate of Don 2. “Things are looking good for Don 2 and we hope to start in the beginning of 2009,” he says.
But the interesting bit came when we asked him whether Shah Rukh and Priyanka are a part of the sequel. “We plan to have some of the cast from Don in the sequel,” he adds.
We pressed him harder on the issue and he tells us, “I’m beginning with Voice from the Sky first. It is too premature to talk about all this now.”
Rumours were rife that something was rotten in this Khan’s relationship with his gal. But, now Salman is talking an off on July 16 and flying down to Ooty. For the uninitiated, it is because it is his girlfriend Katrina Kaif’s birthday and he wants to be with her as she will be busy shooting for Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani in the hill station.
This is a very interesting bit of news since there have been reports of repeated rifts and even a break-up was hinted at in the Sallu-Kat love paradise.
What’s more interesting is that post these rumours Salman Khan has been making public appearances with Katrina and they both look as if they are very much in love.
“Salman wants to make it a very special day for Katrina and definitely has plans to take his day off and visit Katrina who will be busy shooting in Ooty,” says a source. “He will be there for a day…probably since he too is busy with his schedules.”
Rumours of the Sallu-Kat break-up had spiralled when there were repeated reports that Salman did not like Katrina pairing up with Akshay Kumar due their sizzling on-screen chemistry.
Then came the rumours that Salman had slapped her in her vanity van while she was shooting for a film. It was also rumoured that Salman Khan had actually broken up with Kat and was in fact dating super hot model Bruna Abdullah, whom he had cast in his home production Veer being directed by Anil Sharma (director of Gadar and Apne).
All these rumours seem to be laid to rest now with Salman’s proposed dash to be with his gal on her birthday.
DAYS BEFORE Sania Mirza left India to try her luck on the Wimbledon greens, India’s top tennis player visited Mecca with her family. She had already squandered the French Open because of a wrist operation. In addition, she had lost a small but significant privilege: her security cover was withdrawn by a miffed Hyderabad Police, following allegations of non-payment. That’s what it means to be Sania Mirza.
Sports cognoscenti didn’t pay much heed to the news of the security cover withdrawal but they wonder — and worry — about where India’s big tennis hope is headed after her crushing defeats, both in the Wimbledon singles and the mixed doubles with Mahesh Bhupathi, in spite of her having a near home crowd advantage and her new emphasis on wrist play.
Her fans, said a posting on the official Wimbledon website, even scaled some scaffolding and the match had to be stopped while they were called down. “It’s always like that at Wimbledon, at least in my experience. There’s always a lot of Indians here; we’re lucky to get that level of support,” Mirza told the website.
With her 32nd seed slot, this is the first time she has been within touching distance of the grand slam championship, but Mirza proceeded to disappoint her fans with her loss 0-6, 6-4, 7- 9 to Spain’s Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez, who is ranked 101 on the circuit. “She is under a lot of pressure, especially in an Olympic year,” explains former Indian Davis Cup captain and Star Sports commentator Vijay Amritraj. Adds his partner on the show, Alan Wilkins: “I do not know what she is aiming at and for what she is preserving her best. But it is increasingly becoming tough for Mirza.”
No one is sweeping her off the courts immediately, but her tennis has actually worsened. She’s had a series of early-round exits and many watchers are wondering how long will she last.
Mirza returned to the ATP tour a fortnight ago, after a three-month absence following surgery on her right wrist. That, and a niggling back problem, are both crucial issues for Mirza, who, critics say, is struggling to find her rhythm. For instance, in the match against Sanchez, she virtually gift-wrapped the first set, and double faulted again in the second set, before handing over the game. “And that is making her fight back in almost every match,” adds Wilkins.
So where is the new wrist, and where is the new start for the number 32 seed? Before Wimbledon began, Sania was confident that the reconstructive surgery on her right hand — the playing one — would help her stand up to the rigours of fast tennis on grass. In the doubles, she and her American partner Bethanie Mattek, seeded 13, have set up a quarterfinal clash with Venus and Serena Williams, after getting past the Uzbek-Belarussian pair of Akgul Amanmuradova and Darya Kustova. That is, perhaps, the only silver lining for Mirza at the moment, who has entered the doubles quarters for the first time.
But the 21-year-old’s rollercoaster career is under tremendous pressure in a world tennis that is witnessing fashion statements, brute force victories, wear and tear and burnouts by age 24. Creating a few serious waves across the world means little.
Her peers say Mirza’s challenge is huge because the wins are not coming — the last worthwhile mention was her making it to the finals of the Australian Open mixed doubles this year and three smaller mixed doubles wins. In fact, her off-court controversies have generated more news than her game. Opposition to her on-court attire, dubbed skimpy by fundamentalist groups, and a court case against her for allegedly disrespecting the national flag were a couple of unwanted issues she’s been forced to grapple with since turning pro three years ago.
Tired of the controversies, she had decided against playing on Indian courts altogether, a decision she is now willing to reconsider. “I just think they’ve made me grow up a lot more, but I don’t think they’ve left any scars. I think it’s all been an experience, some good, some bad. But I’ve come through it and that’s the most important thing,” she told reporters after her first round victory at Wimbledon.
But it’s the lack of wins that is critical — and they are not happening. “She is past an age when she can say she is enjoying the experience,” says Jaideep Mukherjea, a former Davis Cup player for India.
He is right. In world tennis, the leading figures are in the news for all the right, and some of the wrong, reasons. Their dynamic strokes make their game and their stories as passionate, dramatic and compelling as their rivalries. That’s called point building in the curriculum vitae and they all seem to be having what it takes: French Open champion Ana Ivanovic, Maria Sharapova, who is called the world’s best advertising machine, Anna Chakvetadze who dazzles the world with her thoughtful, nimble and logical tennis and, of course, the Williams sisters
Faced with such opposition, Mirza’s uphill climb appears to be almost Himalyan.
That does not mean that India’s best female player in decades should sink into despair and lock up her ambitions. It’s just that the world is worried about her erratic opening spells, and perhaps, she too should be concerned about this.
Mirza, however, appears unfazed. She had fully recovered from the surgery and continues to answer queries from reporters through e-mails. What she now needs is to get a mental advantage going
Pasupathy, the actor who shares screen with the Superstar for the first time, is reportedly annoyed with Kuselan team for not projecting him properly (as a hero instead of Rajini??!!) in the publicity and CD cover, has conveyed his regrets and apology for not attending the audio release function of Kuselan.
It may be recalled when the film started, Vasu, the director told that the film is out and out a Rajini film. But at that time Rajini immediately intervened Vasu and told that his onscreen share would be only 25 percent and Pasupathy would be awarded for 50 percent. The remaining 25 percent is Vadivelu.
But Vasu, the commercial specialist was very clear in a point. He told Rajini if he comes throughout the film only it will be working out. Otherwise, it would never click and the distributors were also not showing any interest to buy the film for big amount.
Just because of this business compulsion Rajini changed his stand and agreed to play the full length role as the Superstar hero of Kuselan. When the film completed, Rajini’s role has been enlarged to more than 60 - 70 percent (”4 times bigger than the original role done by Mammootty” – Vasu). It is said that Rajini also advised the director to enlarge the role of Vadivelu and his combination scenes with the ace comedian.
Vasu also did not give any importance to Pasupathy in the CD or Cassette cover. Sources say that all these lead to Pasupathy’s silent boycott in the audio release function by saying he was busy shooting for Vedigundu Murugesan in Dindigul and Miunnar! Now Pasupathy conveys his regrets to Rajini and Vasu for his absence and seeking apology from veteran director K Balachander.
The heroines Meena and Nayantara were gave much importance in the albumas well as in then movie also not attended the function. Now both the actresses gave interviews and explained why they had not turned at the event. Yesterday Nayantara called on Rajini and conveyed her apology for her absence.
They are cool, charismatic, and super dynamic, and when they come together on screen it’s indeed a dream come true. Aamir Khan and Salman Khan made a dynamic duo some 14 years ago and their ensemble presence still manages to evoke the same old magic even today.Close on the heels of Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na, the famous uncle-nephew jodi of Aamir Khan and Imran Khan make an appearance on Salman Khan’s popular game show 10 Ka Dum.
The episode starts with Aamir and Salman entering the sets on a cycle to the beats of the super-hit song Do mastana chale zindagi banane from their smash hit film, Andaz Apna Apna.
They entered the sets with so much of energy that the studio audience went crazy. The audience cheered and clapped aloud on seeing their favorite stars together.
Salman introduced Aamir as the man who needs no introduction and said, Yeh to purush hi nahin hain…Yeh Mahapurush hai!” Incidentally, this is also a memorable line from Andaz Apna Apna. Both the actors did indeed brought back memories of their comic caper, Andaz Apna Apna on the show.
Confirms our source, “Finally, Dulha Mil Gaya is happening. The shooting will begin on July 7th at Filmcity.
It was not stopped completely as Fardeen Khan was shooting for it when Shah Rukh was busy with his previous projects. But now he and Sushmita will shoot for the film.
The filming will take place at least for 3 months as the film is scheduled to release by the end of December. Some crucial scenes are to be shot between Shah Rukh and Sushmita. SRK will start shooting in September. The film needs more attention now.”
Adds the source, “He wants to complete the film by the end of August and after that he will be busy with the post production work.”
When contacted all Vivek Vaswani said was, “I don’t want to talk about Dulha right now. It would be premature.”
Dulha Mil Gaya is a romantic comedy. The film has four main characters – Shah Rukh Khan as Raj Oberoi, Sushmita Sen as Lisa DD, Fardeen Khan as Shashank and Tara Sharma as Jessica DD. The film has been shot in the Caribbeans, Trinidad and Tobago.
Earlier the film was supposed to release in May. Vivek Vaswani and SRK go a long way back. The two have been friends since SRK’s struggling days in the industry.
