Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 19 (IANS) Magician Jadugar Anand Friday said it was good that Malayalam superstar Mohanlal had decided not to perform the ‘fire escape’ act as it involved a great deal of risk.

Anand said that the risk associated with performing the act was not advisable for a person like Mohanlal who is loved and adored by millions.

‘My 29-year-old son Akash is performing this act Sunday here. Only when you see it will you realise how dangerous it is. It is good for Mohanlal to take risk in his work, but not in such a dangerous act. I’m happy he cancelled it after pressure from his fans,’ Anand told reporters here.

In April, Mohanlal agreed to do the ‘fire escape’ and trained for 18 months under Gopinath Muthukad, the head of the Magic Academy here.

But another magician Samrat went on a hunger strike to dissuade Mohanlal from performing the act. He was joined by fans of the superstar who urged him to pull back.

Mohanlal finally did that when his mother made the same request.

Anand’s son will also perform the ‘underwater escape’. For this, he will be chained and packed in a box that would be thrown into the sea. Last year he performed the same act in Hyderabad.

‘Last year he came out of the box in just 15 seconds after it was thrown into a river in Hyderabad,’ said Anand.

According to sources in the crew of Kidnap, “Imran has a lot of fighting sequences in the film and most of it includes martial arts. He was assigned a special trainer for the same before leaving for the long schedule of Luck.

But as he got busy promoting Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na after it released to packed houses, he had little time on his hands to give it to his martial arts training sessions. Imran landed in Cape Town without proper training.

But the makers had already arranged a special trainer for him on his arrival. So Imran spent a lot of hours daily practicing martial arts to bring perfection for his action steps. He also worked out a lot on his physique for his role in this particular film.

It is learnt that the next schedule of Luck is going to take place in December but so fascinated has Imran been with his martial arts training that he wishes to continue with the same till the next schedule begins so that he is well prepared that time.”

Bollywood sexy actress Kareena Kapoor has many good reasons to look forward to her birthday on Sep 21 and one of them is the shooting with Aamir Khan who is her favorite actor.

”On my birthday I will be shooting for Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Three Idiots’ in Ladakh. And the best part is that I will be shooting with my favorite actor, Aamir Khan,” Kareena said. Apart from her busy schedule she remained tight-lipped about her personal life.” My personal life is personal,” she said. “I am not irritated. But these things are personal. You guys (media) keeps hovering around us and keep taking pictures wherever we go.”

Kareena, whose latest film “Tashan” didnt do well among the audiences, seemed upbeat about her forthcoming animation film with Saif titled “Roadside Romeo”. ”The reaction to the trailers of ‘Roadside Romeo’ is just great. In fact, when I saw the rushes in the theatre myself, I told Jugal (Hansraj) that we should make the film with real characters also because it is such a fun film,” she said. For “Roadside Romeo”, Kareena and Saif have lent their voices to animation characters.

The film is written and directed by debutante Jugal Hansraj, is a co-production of Yash Raj Films and the Walt Disney Company.

Shahrukh Khan ’s home production Billoo Barber has reportedly been postponed for the next year release.

The reason for its delay is that some sequences and songs are yet to be shot. Shahrukh’s company Red Chillies Entertainment propounded that the film is not yet finished and a grand publicity stunt has been planned to make the movie a huge success. So the movie can’t release before January. Shahrukh is known for his big way of promoting films. Can we forget Om Shanti Om ?

Dubai: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is now trying a new role as a property developer, conceptualising a series of buildings in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), an entertainment website reported here.

Khan’s first project is called Shah Rukh Khan Boulevard and is located on the island of Al Dana in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE-based website masala.com reported.

Covering an area of 1,700 sq km, Ras Al Khaimah is among the five emirates that form the northern emirates of the UAE and lies along the border of Oman.

“Our inquiries have revealed that the superstar, who has been lying low since that July 17 tiff with Salman Khan, will be in Dubai to announce the project at the real estate expo City Scape (in Dubai), to be held from Oct 6 to 9,” the report said.

The cluster of studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments are being designed by well-known architect Toni Ashai and Shah Rukh has associated himself with the project through TSA International Investments, a leading real estate financial consultancy in the UAE.

The Baadshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan is all set to play a new role in real. The superstar is now aiming pure business; something different from films, this time it’s real estate. The news making the rounds is that Shah Rukh’s inclination towards real estates and property developments have now taken a concrete shape. The witty Khan, apart from having a production house ‘Dreamz Unlimited’, now also aims at undertaking a new business venture, namely the ‘Shah Rukh Khan Boulevard’.

According to the reports of a news-daily, Shah Rukh’s first pet project is in association with TSA International Investments on signature buildings of Al Dana Island, one of UAE’s seven emirates.

Sources also state that King Khan will be in Dubai to announce the project at the real estate expo ‘City Scape’, to be held from October 6 to 9. Buyers have been officially invited for investments, but sales will begin only after the launch on October 20.

Director Santosh Sivan has trashed recent press reports that he approached Shah Rukh Khan to work in a big budget action adventure to be directed by him.

A story has been doing the rounds for several weeks that Sivan will be directing Shah Rukh Khan in a film based on the Indiana Jones series, set in India with John Abraham as his sidekick.

Sivan, who last directed Shah Rukh in Asoka (2001), was initially not categorical with his denial.

“To be very honest I have been too busy promoting Tahaan for me to approach anyone for my films,” he told Sawf News.

When we persisted, asking him categorically if he was directing a movie starring Shah Rukh Khan he was forthright, but still not very forthcoming.

“Well! I am not directing any films wherein Shah Rukh is in the film,” he said in a hurry to keep the phone down. He probably did not see the point in talking further.

But then our journalists are the pesky kind. So why is the story that he is directing Shah Rukh doing the rounds? Surely, there can be no smoke without fire?

Realizing we wouldn’t let him get on with his business until he gave us more details Sivan opened up somewhat, “I am not going to direct Shah Rukh Khan for any movie at all at this juncture. All I am going to do with him is shoot some commercials for him.”

However, he didn’t go any further and refused to reveal details about these commercials.

So there goes one more tabloid rumor down the drain!

When the curtains were brought down on 10 KA DUM, the debut programme of Salman Khan on Sony television, the views expressed in some quarters that hiring him for this programme may not be a win-win situation for the channel. But the immense popularity of the programme has dispelled the thought. The USP of the programme has been the informality that Salman brought out in all the episodes and this is what increased its TRP.

Stars have made their debuts in various TV programmes but they have been guarded in their interaction with the audiences, but Salman threw all the caution to the winds, right from dancing along with them, to allowing them to pull his legs for his impeding marriage. Not a single episode went by, where this issue was not taken up, but he replied to all of them with his elfin charm and floored the audience and the participants with his response.

Such was the warmth that Salman brought out into the programme that he led the skeptics eat crow, when he invited Akshay and Katrina together on the programme, and Katrina was courageous enough to pull his legs for hugging and kissing the female partners. Even though it may have been stage-managed the sheer fact that he allowed to be questioned on the same, was a clever ploy to do away with the Casanova image with which he has been associated in the media.

He also was candid enough to come out with his differences with Shah Rukh Khan and he was vocal about his opinion. It was his charm that made even Aamir Khan appear in a realty show and have fun. As Aamir himself acknowledged that people of his ilk are like laborers who have to work to get their dues, but Salman is the real star who lets people eat out of his hand, if he so decides.

As the prgramme was based on the probabilities as the deciding factor for winnability of a question, the probability of Salman being immensely popular has turned into a certainty as the curtains have come down on 10 KA DUM. There is no need for any audience poll. When the second season of 10 KA DUM starts, it would indeed be interesting to watch whether he invites BIG B along with his family and would have settled the issue of his impeding marriage by then.
